All lessons are by Gene Rochambeau. Gene is a self-taught guitarist who has played professionally in the Southern California area for over 40 years. He studied music academically from the age of 9 and through through college.

Guitar Lessons

Learn about your instrument as well as how to play it. Quickly experience the fun and satisfaction that comes from learning to create music. Guitar lessons include:

· Guitar mechanics: Proper intonation methods, adjustments, strap length, string height (action), care of instrument, accessories (capo, tuners, slide, effects, etc.).

· Reading music: Not just chord charts and tablature, but real notes on a staff, time and key signatures, sight-reading techniques and more. Staff notation is the written language of music and is necessary for efficient musical communication.

· Scales, arpeggios and modes: Find out why every guitar player needs to have a good grasp of these fundamental skills.

· Chords and chord structure: Not only the most common fingerings, but inversions, variations, chord scales and “comping.” Find out how—and why—chords work, and why chords and scales go hand and hand.

· Basic theory: How all the elements fit together.

· Learning songs: Become proficient at "figuring out" guitar chords and parts from recorded material.

· Playing by ear: Learn how to follow along in a group without knowing the material. Learn how to "listen" while playing in a group or band and discover why this is an essential skill for all ensemble players.

· Improvising: An important skill for all guitar players. Learn how to play solos and “fills” and be creative with your playing.
